White Crane Sandstone Quarry is situated on the Tablelands, south-west of Cairns near the marble fields of Chillagoe. The product is extracted and transported to our yard in Cairns, Smithfield where it is processed ready for sale.
Owner Operators, Ray Ulinovich and Ray Hussey, share many years of combined industry experience within the stone and construction sector. With a passion for stone as a construction material, they have teamed up to re-open this hidden gem of a stone quarry, which previosly operated in the 1990's.
Ray Ulinovich, as a qualified stonemason, bringing the passion from his homelands of Croatia, uses a specialised hand splitting technique that has been refined from years of working with this quality stone. As a speciality, this technique allows Ray to split large format slabs that are unique to this type of sandstone.
White Crane produces a variety of formats, sizing & colour. Hand held sizes to create walling, paving & cladding. Various larger slab sizes for entrances, stepping stones & stairs. Large stone blocks for landscaping features or retaining.

The unique hardness of our stone allows us to split a natural stone face without cutting.
This achieves a varied, soft colour palette of natural sandstone, achieving a contemporary muted white stone effect incorporating: beige creams, pink blush, pistatio green, pale golds.
